The design methods used in STAAD-Pro analysis are Limit State Design conforming to Indian Standard Code of Practice. The structure was subjected to self-weight, dead load, live load and seismic loads under the load case details of STAAD Pro. The supports at the base of the structure were also specified as fixed. Then STAAD Pro was used to analyze the structure and design the members. In the postprocessing mode, after completion of the design, we can work on the structure and study the bending moment and shear force values with the generated diagrams. The design of the building is dependent upon the minimum requirements as prescribed in the Indian Standard Codes. Strict conformity to loading standards recommended in this code, it is hoped, will ensure the structural safety of the buildings which are being designed.

A Project Report On DESIGN, PLANNING AND COST ESTIMATION OF A G+4 RESIDENTIAL BUILDING

Any construction project to begin with starts with the Layout of the building or structure followed by Design and Analysis of the structure which is succeeded by cost estimation and planning for the said project. This project involves the layout, design, analysis, planning and cost estimation of a G+4 residential building located in Jangpura, Delhi. The layout of the proposed G+4 residential building is based on a plot of size 150’ x 90 ‘. Previously the plot was being used as a commercial complex, but according to the new plan it will be used as a multi-storeyed residential building. The ground floor of the building will be used as parking while the remaing 4 floors will be divided into 8 apartments each having an area of 246sq m. Each apartment is of 3BHK configuration. All the drafting was done using AutoCAD. Also these drawings made on AutoCAD also served as a base for transfer of the structure for analysis and design into STAAD Pro. The analysis and design of the entire structure has been completed using STAAD pro. The results include the various forces acting on various members as well various schedules for various members. Also using the software we got the concrete take-off as well as the weight of the various reinforcement bars thus easing the load of cost estimation. The foundation has been designed as an isolated footing using soil condition as medium. The foundation design values were calculated using STAAD Foundation. Primavera P6 has been used for planning the various activities that surround the construction of a building. Using primavera we were able to formulate a working schedule and also a progress bar for constant monitoring of the project. Using primavera we were able to assign various resources as well as responsibilities on various people related to the various stages of the project there by increasing accountability. The duration of the project using primavera has been calculated to be around 374 days which also includes holidays. The progress and the relationship between various activities has also been shown in the form of an animated Gantt Chart. This chart also helps the Project manager to explain to his clients the various aspects as well as progress of the project. The cost estimate for the project has been calculated using Centre Line Method in Microsoft Excel. For the Abstract cost CPWD Schedule of rates has been followed and a total cost of Rs 9517974 has been calculated.

Structural Analysis is that the revelation of the consequences of effects of loads on physical structures and their components and Structural design is that the process of arrangement of the structure to securely prevent the applied loads and effects of loads within the most resources in proper manner. The most aim of structural analysis and style is to take care of a structure which is capable of resisting all applied loads with none failure of structure. In Project, structure is analyzed for earthquake resistance for various grades of concrete then the comparison of quantity and then the comparison of quantity of steel and concrete for interior panel with different plan for a same building i.e. slabs & beams are compared and therefore the results are obtained. Our results depend upon the Seismic analysis of multistoried building (G+2) for seismic zone-III with the assistance of software STAAD PRO. IS 1893-2002 (Part 1) mentions that structure will normally experience more sever ground motion, than that given within the code for design purpose, It had been said that "The designed as an Earthquake resistance has increase the value of construction." The statement is faithful to some extent.

Analysis and Design of (G +15) Commercial Building

A (G + 15) commercial building has been considered in the present study. Dead Load, Live Load and Seismic Load are considered in the analysis and design of the building. IS: 875 (Part I and II) and IS: 1893 are used for the calculation of loadings. The analysis and design of the commercial building has been carried out by STAAD Pro V8i. Limit State Method is used here. To analyze and design the (G + 15) commercial building, 32 metre long and 24 metre wide shown in figure 1. Height of each storey is 3 metre. M40 grade of concrete and Fe415 grade of steel are used. The building is situated in Zone III. II. CALCULATION OF LOADING Calculation of Dead Load (DL) IS: 875 (Part I) has been considered to calculate Dead Load (DL). Considering the deflection criteria, the overall depth of floor slab as well as roof slab is taken as 115 mm. Calculation of DL on Floor Slab: Self-weight of slab = 0.115 × 25 = 2.875 kN/m 2 Weight of floor finish = 1.2 kN/m 2 Total Dead Load on floor slab = 4.075 kN/m 2 Calculation of DL on Roof Slab: Self-weight of slab = 0.115 × 25 = 2.875 kN/m 2 Weight of brick bat coba = 20 × 0.100 = 2 kN/m 2 Weight of ceiling plaster = 0.3 kN/m 2 Total Dead Load on roof slab = 5.175 kN/m 2 Weight of Wall: Considering 35 mm thick plaster, weight of 230 mm thick main wall = 20 × (0.23 + 0.035) (3 – 0.8) = 11.66 kN/m

A multi-storey is a building that has multiple floors above the ground. It can be a residential or commercial building. In this project the analysis and design of multi-storey building G+4. In general, the analysis of multi-storey is elaborate and rigorous because those are statically indeterminate structures. Shears and moments due to different loading conditions are determined by many methods such as portal method, moment distribution method and matrix method. The present project deals with the analysis of a G+4 building.The dead load & live loads are applied and the design for beams, columns, the footing is obtained manually. The Analysis part of the structure is done using Kani's Method and the values are taken for design.
